Dwayne Shivers is a progressive classic folk duo, fronted by songwriter Micah Dalton and producer / songwriter Anthony Aparo. In early 2016, they joined forces to finish the debut Dwayne Shivers LP, "Buffered & Blest, along with Brooklyn-based producer Jeremy McDonald (Kevin Garrett, Welcome Wagon) and mixing engineer Jason Kingsland (Belle & Sebastian, Deerhunter, Iron & Wine).
The meandering harmonies and insistent cadence of "Young Man" mirror the mysteries of existence and the challenges of youth as Dwayne Shivers show off their chops for progressive folk that challenges conceptions of linear songwriting. The next stop on Dwayne Shivers' journey of social anxiety and self-discovery is the heartfelt reckoning of "Young Man." Like the other songs on their upcoming debut LP Buffered and Blest, "Young Man" is a time-lapse capture of blooming melodies which reflect the ambition of Micah Dalton and Anthony Aparo. Dalton tapped the ingenuity of previous bandmate Rick Lollar, who contributed the cascading bridge to the track. The result displays the band's ability to transform polished modern folk into something organic and is evident in the track's varied instrumentation and disarming transitions, but the heart of the song is Dalton's ability to channel the universal search for belonging. As he sings to the voice of wisdom, the listener is prodded to confront their own desire for meaning amidst the colorful harmonies.
"Buffered & Blest" is slated for a 2018 release.
